Playing standard

We welcome anyone to come to see if they fit in, however we are not able to accept beginners or novices in the club.

If you want to learn to play or have recently started playing, check out the Avon Badminoton Association's web site, on our contacts page, and ask for suggestions.

The playing standard of the club would be considered as average club play, not in the top leagues but better than beginners, novices or intermediate social players. We play with feather shuttles, will be using the rally point scoring system (assuming it is passed at the ABA AGM), and play level and mixed doubles at the club sessions.

With teams in the lower and middle ranks of the leagues we encompass a wide range of standard, and we will try to include all players who want to play matches in one of our teams.

However, there are many members who feel unable to commit to a team, and enjoy our club nights as their opportunity to play badminton.

We also have a number of members who play with us as their second club, either playing matches elsewhere, or playing in one league with us and another elsewhere.

As Bristol is a fast moving city which attracts people from all round the world, we have had players who have come for a few months, one season, or who play with us when their work brings them to Bristol.

As a visitor you are welcome on up to three occasions before we will either ask you to join, or we may recommend an alternative club or venue.

If you come and feel that we are not suitable for you please talk to one of the club captains who will arrange for your visitors fee to be refunded, and will talk to you about where might be suitable.
